Vietti is one of Piedmont's most historic and respected wine estates, with roots stretching back to the late 1800s, when Carlo Vietti established the winery in the medieval village of Castiglione Falletto, at the heart of the Langhe. The estate remains based in the same historic location today, with its story deeply connected to the great vineyards of Barolo and the evolution of fine Piedmontese wine.
A defining chapter in Vietti's history began in the late 1950s with Luciana Vietti and her husband, winemaker Alfredo Currado. Their combination of traditional winemaking knowledge, curiosity and appreciation for art helped shape Vietti's distinctive identity. In 1961, Currado produced the Rocche di Castiglione, one of the pioneering single-vineyard Barolos, while in 1967 Vietti was among the first producers to bottle Roero Arneis as a pure varietal wine. From 1974, the winery's wines were paired with distinctive Artist Labels, establishing a celebrated connection between wine and contemporary art.
Today, Vietti farms approximately 75 hectares across the Langhe, Roero, Asti and Colli Tortonesi, with an emphasis on expressing the individual character of Piedmont's exceptional vineyards. Since the Krause family acquired the estate in 2016, Vietti has expanded its portfolio with renowned Barolo and Barbaresco crus as well as vineyards dedicated to Timorasso, while maintaining a strong focus on tradition, terroir and sustainability. For wine lovers, Vietti represents a fascinating meeting point of heritage and modern vision-and a benchmark for understanding the diversity, elegance and complexity of Piedmontese wine.
