From Italy to Australia, with love

Italians love to cook - plain and simple. Food is part of everyday life, shared around the table with family and friends, always using quality ingredients that don’t need much fuss.

Our shelves are lined with authentic Italian products, thoughtfully selected from both imported and local producers who share our commitment to quality, tradition, and the Italian way of living. We focus on products made with exceptional ingredients by passionate, often generational producers whose recipes and methods have been refined over decades.

We’ve brought the ingredients we know and love to Mercato so you can recreate those familiar flavours at home - from nostalgic favourites to everyday essentials. From biscuits and coffee to pasta, sauces, olive oil, vinegar, olives, preserves, and regional specialties, every product on our shelves has been carefully curated because it represents the best of Italian food culture: simple ingredients, made well, and meant to be enjoyed every day.

SALUMERIA + CHEESE BAR

Salumi is a staple of Italian cuisine, and a big part of our Marketplace. At the deli counter, you’ll find the meats featured throughout our menu alongside a curated range of traditional and specialty smallgoods sourced from producers who value quality, craftsmanship, and tradition.

From delicate prosciutto and spicy sopressa to mortadella, pancetta, and regional favourites, every product is selected for its authenticity and flavour — the kind of ingredients Italians grow up eating and sharing around the table.

Cheese is just as important to Italian food culture, with every region offering its own unique styles and specialties. Our cheese bar features more than 50 varieties, including the cheeses used throughout our menu, from fresh buffalo mozzarella to aged Parmigiano Reggiano and everything in between.

Whether you’re building an antipasto platter, planning an aperitivo, or making a late-night trip to the fridge, our deli is all about celebrating the very best of Italian produce, made to be enjoyed every day.

SEAFOOD BUTCHER

Open Tuesday to Sunday

Seafood is an integral part of Italian cooking, shaped by the coastal regions where simple, seasonal dishes celebrate the daily catch, from Ligurian stews and Venetian shellfish to Sicilian tuna traditions.

Our dedicated seafood butcher is led by James, our in-house seafood butcher and chef. Drawing on Italy’s coastal traditions, James takes a tip-to-tail approach, creating simple, flavour-driven dishes that honour the ingredients. His philosophy is simple: always fresh, local as possible, and sustainably sourced.

He prepares, butchers, and sources the freshest seafood, from whole fish and oysters to specialist items like caviar. If you're looking to source seafood, James is always happy to assist, or just have a chat.

FRESH PRODUCE

For Italians, every meal begins with the produce. Across the country, each region celebrates the seasons in its own way, creating recipes, traditions, and flavours that are deeply connected to the land. From artichokes and asparagus in spring, to tomatoes and peaches in summer, mushrooms and truffles in autumn, and citrus and fennel through winter, every season brings something worth gathering around the table for.

At Mercato, we follow the same philosophy. Through our partnership with Produce 4 Chefs, fresh produce is sourced daily from local markets and trusted growers, ensuring our shelves are filled with fruit and vegetables at their seasonal best. By working closely with the people who grow our food, we're able to bring you produce that is fresher, more flavourful, and ready to be enjoyed at home just as Italians have for generations.
