Winter marks the arrival of one of nature's rarest and most coveted delicacies. Hidden beneath the earth and sought after by chefs around the world, fresh truffles are celebrated for their unmistakable aroma, remarkable depth of flavour and fleeting seasonal availability.
This August, Mercato invites you to experience the tradition of truffle foraging with an exclusive day in the Adelaide Hills at in partnership with Quercus Truffles.
Renowned for cultivating exceptional black truffles using sustainable farming practices, Quercus has become one of South Australia's leading truffle producers. Guided by their experienced team, you'll gain an insight into the centuries-old craft of truffle hunting - or cerca e cavatura del tartufo - learning about the unique relationship between the land and the hazelnut, English Oak and Holmoak trees that nurture the truffles. Alongside the Quercus team, specially trained dogs Riley the Weimaraner, Ace the chocolate Labrador and Rowlf the black Labrador will lead the charge, using their extraordinary sense of smell to uncover these hidden treasures.
Your two-hour guided foraging experience offers the opportunity to witness the harvest firsthand, before enjoying a tasting flight of freshly unearthed truffles at the farm. Following your time at Quercus, you'll return to Mercato where Head Chef Nick Bergin has created an indulgent four-course menu celebrating the unmistakable character of fresh winter truffles.
To start - Pizza al taglio, mushroom, truffle, pancetta
Pasta - Fettuccine, truffle butter
Main - Duck, balsamic, walnut, truffle // Salad
Sweet - Hazelnut olive oil cake, hazelnut semifreddo, pear
Prosecco on arrival and wines poured freely throughout lunch.

Policy for all events are outlined below:
Event Changes: If unforeseen circumstances require us to change or cancel an event, Mercato will happily reimburse the full cost of your ticket.
Cancellations: 7 days or more from event: Mercato will provide store credit equivalent to the full cost of your ticket for cancellations that occur from the time you purchase your ticket up to 7 days before the event.
Within 7 days of event: Event bookings cancelled within 7 days of the event date are strictly non-refundable.
