Red fruits, tea, roses and liquorice root and mint perfume, almond paste. It's medium to full-bodied, has energy and juiciness of raspberry and red cherry, a fine grain to tannin, a savoury and earthy character, quite specific in a way, with good length. It's maybe a little rugged but the perfume and class of this wine is very appealing. Has some liquorice amaro flavours to close. Perhaps the best wine from this excellent producer in 2022, at least for me.

Producer Info: Founded by Giovanni Giordano in the 1930s near the heart of Barbaresco, the Luigi Giordano estate began as a grape-growing property before Giovanni's son, Luigi, started producing wine in 1960. His commitment to expressing the region's terroir through traditional, quality-focused winemaking helped establish Barbaresco's reputation. Today, the fifth-generation family estate owns vineyards in some of the region's most prestigious crus, including Asili, Montestefano and the monopole Cavanna cru.
Now led by Luigi's grandson, Matteo Rocca, the estate farms over seven hectares of vineyards planted predominantly to Nebbiolo, alongside Dolcetto, Barbera, Freisa and Arneis. Guided by his grandfather's elegant, traditional approach, Matteo continues to produce wines defined by long skin maceration and ageing in large botti, creating refined, expressive wines that showcase the character of these exceptional vineyard sites.
