Meet the producer

Founded in 1865 by Francesco Tornatore’s great-grandfather, Tornatore has been rooted in the northern slopes of Mount Etna for more than 150 years. In 1910, his grandfather Giuseppe strengthened the family’s connection to the land by building a traditional *palmento* at Contrada Piano Fiera, laying the foundations for the estate that exists today. Across generations, the family has built its knowledge of Etna’s vineyards through patience, experience and an enduring respect for the landscape, allowing that heritage to guide the winery as it continues to evolve.

For the Tornatore family, making wine on Etna is as much about caring for the land as it is about making wine. Their vineyards sit in a landscape shaped by the volcano, where dramatic temperature changes and ancient volcanic soils give the wines their distinctive freshness, complexity and character. Today, the family combines generations of local knowledge with modern winemaking, while treating sustainability as a natural expression of their responsibility to the land and future generations.
