Meet the producer
Planeta is a family story that stretches across seventeen generations of farming in Sicily, with the family’s roots in agriculture long before wine became its focus. In 1995, the fifth and sixth generations of the family began a new chapter, turning their attention to quality wine and setting out to explore the extraordinary diversity of the island. From the family’s historic home in Menfi, they gradually expanded into different corners of Sicily, seeking out distinctive landscapes and vineyard sites while combining generations of agricultural knowledge with a curiosity for new ideas.
Today, Planeta farms vineyards across five distinct Sicilian territories, from the Mediterranean coast to the volcanic slopes of Mount Etna, with each estate shaped by its own landscape and traditions. The family remains committed to Sicily’s native varieties and to farming in a way that respects the land, biodiversity and the future of the vineyards. Their approach brings together tradition and experimentation, allowing the character of each place to guide the wines while showcasing the remarkable diversity and personality of contemporary Sicily."
