Meet the producer

Founded by Luigi Nervi in 1906, Nervi is the oldest operating winery in Gattinara and one of Alto Piemonte’s most historic names. Luigi’s son Italo expanded the estate through the acquisition of vineyards and the development of its cellars, laying the foundations for a winery that would become closely associated with the potential of Nebbiolo in this northern corner of Piedmont. After passing through several generations and owners, the estate entered a new chapter in 2011 when the Astrup family acquired a majority share. Their relationship with Roberto Conterno, whose admiration for Nervi’s vineyards was immediate, ultimately led to his acquisition of 90% of the winery in 2018.

Under the Conterno family, Nervi has undergone a remarkable renewal, with Roberto Conterno investing heavily in the winery, cellars and historic vineyards while preserving the traditional identity of the estate. At its heart is a deep belief in Gattinara’s ability to produce Nebbiolo of extraordinary elegance, freshness and longevity, shaped by the region’s high-altitude vineyards and mineral-rich soils. Today, Nervi combines more than a century of history with the exacting standards of the Conterno family, producing wines that capture the distinctive character and remarkable potential of Alto Piemonte.
