Meet the producer
Alberto di Grésy
Marchesi di Grésy is a historic family estate whose roots in the Langhe and Monferrato stretch back to the late 18th century. At its heart is Martinenga, a remarkable amphitheatre-shaped vineyard in the Barbaresco DOCG that has been exclusively owned and vinified by the di Grésy family since 1797. For generations, the family has been deeply connected to these hills, with a philosophy centred on understanding the natural character of each vineyard and allowing that character to guide the wines.
When Alberto di Grésy took over in the 1970s, he transformed the family from growers into producers, modernising the estate while remaining faithful to its traditional identity. Today, the family farms four estates across the Langhe and Monferrato, with a particular focus on expressing the elegance and individuality of their vineyards. Their approach is deliberately restrained, with meticulous vineyard care and winemaking designed to enhance rather than overpower the fruit, resulting in wines defined by finesse, complexity and a strong sense of place."
