Product Description: The fruit comes from a single hectare vineyard situated in neighbouring Castiglione Falletto, on a hilly ridge that runs through a heart of limestone and clay soils. The Barolo Villero boasts a strong territorial bond. It shows in a deep bouquet and mouth coating tannins that will support long aging.
This wine is vibrant and youthful, with delicate yet luscious strawberry, redcurrant and cherry aromas and a rosy scent. The palate is fleshy with well-rounded tannins that are ripe and extremely polished, resulting in a wine that’s opulent yet not overdone.
One of my favourite crus in Barolo. I love Villero. This is from 65 year old vines. Floods the senses with perfume, all the dried flowers and spice, a dusting of pepper, liquorice root, red fruits and dark cherry, almond. Medium-weight, succulence to tannin, a ferrous and stony feel, has crispness, energy and intensity, and the length is superb. A wonderful wine from a great vintage and vineyard. 97pts. Gary Walsh
