Meet the producer

Founded in 1851 by Charles-Camille Heidsieck, Charles Heidsieck is one of Champagne’s most distinctive houses, built around the adventurous spirit and unconventional character of its founder. At just 29, Charles established his own house and quickly became known for his ambition, elegance and willingness to challenge convention. He was also a pioneering traveller, becoming the first Champagne house owner to cross the Atlantic in 1852 and earning the nickname “Champagne Charlie” during his celebrated American travels.

That spirit continues to define the house today. Charles Heidsieck is particularly renowned for its mastery of blending and its generous use of aged reserve wines, giving the Champagnes their characteristic depth, texture and complexity. The house’s historic Gallo-Roman Crayères, acquired by Charles in 1867, stretch more than eight kilometres beneath Reims and provide the perfect environment for long ageing, with bottles resting for years or even decades. For Charles Heidsieck, time is effectively a fourth grape variety, allowing the wines to develop the richness, elegance and unmistakable personality that have become the signature of the house."
