Champagne Bollinger & Ayala Masterclass 6:00pm (Wednesday 11th November)
Wednesday 11th November | 6:00pm - 7:30pm
We're thrilled to welcome Christian Rothe, SA Sales Manager at House of Fine Wine, to our next Masterclass Series event.
Champagne Bollinger and Champagne Ayala represent two distinctive yet complementary expressions of the Champagne region, each with a rich heritage, a commitment to craftsmanship and a unique approach to the art of Champagne making. Founded in 1829 in the village of Aÿ, Bollinger is renowned for its powerful, structured and complex Champagnes, with Pinot Noir at the heart of its signature style. Traditional techniques, including the use of oak barrels and the careful ageing of reserve wines, contribute to the depth, richness and remarkable longevity for which the house is celebrated. From its iconic Special Cuvée to its prestigious vintage expressions, Bollinger embodies a timeless combination of character, precision and elegance.
Established in 1860 by Edmond de Ayala, Champagne Ayala has forged its own identity through a pioneering spirit and a focus on freshness, purity and finesse. Ahead of its time, the house championed a drier style of Champagne in 1865, challenging the conventions of the era. Now part of the Bollinger family since 2005, Ayala continues to distinguish itself through its emphasis on Chardonnay, meticulous blending and restrained dosage, creating Champagnes of exceptional clarity and elegance. Together, these two celebrated houses offer a fascinating insight into the diversity of Champagne, from Bollinger's richness and structure to Ayala's vibrant freshness and precision. Hosted by Christian, this Wine Masterclass invites guests to explore the heritage, craftsmanship and distinctive character that make both houses enduring icons of the world of Champagne.
