Guido, Isabella and Emmanuele Ar.Pe.Pe
Ar.Pe.Pe’s story begins in 1860, at the birth of the original Pelizzatti family winery, and continues through one of Valtellina’s most remarkable stories of resilience and renewal. After the family business and trademark were sold in 1973, Arturo Pelizzatti Perego returned to the family vineyards in 1984, founding Ar.Pe.Pe with a clear ambition: to reveal the full potential of Nebbiolo grown in the unique Alpine terroir of Valtellina. Drawing on generations of experience, Arturo rebuilt the estate around a philosophy he called “the right waiting time”, believing that great Nebbiolo could not be rushed. In 2004, the family reunited around his vision, carrying his work into a new generation.
That patience remains at the heart of Ar.Pe.Pe today. The family allows its wines to evolve slowly, waiting until they reach the right moment before bottling and then giving them further time to rest in bottle. Traditional ageing is about more than longevity: it is a way of revealing the individual character of Valtellina’s vineyards and the subtle differences between vintages. For Ar.Pe.Pe, time, place and Nebbiolo are inseparable, with the family’s devotion to the land expressed through wines of remarkable freshness, finesse and depth.
