Meet the producer
Antoniolo is one of the defining estates of Gattinara and a benchmark for Nebbiolo in Alto Piemonte. Founded in 1948 by Mario Antoniolo, the winery was built on a belief in the extraordinary potential of Gattinara’s volcanic hillsides at a time when much of the region was being abandoned. Through foresight and determination, Mario assembled some of the appellation’s finest vineyard sites, including the celebrated Osso San Grato cru. His daughter Rosanna would later become one of the most influential figures in the region, championing Gattinara on the world stage and pioneering single-vineyard bottlings long before the concept became commonplace in Piedmont. Today, the estate is run by the third generation, siblings Alberto and Lorella Antoniolo, who continue to build on the family’s remarkable legacy.
Throughout its history, Antoniolo has remained devoted to expressing the distinctive character of Gattinara through meticulous vineyard work and a deeply traditional approach in the cellar. The family’s wines are celebrated for their elegance, structure and longevity, shaped by the region’s high-altitude vineyards and ancient volcanic soils. With a philosophy rooted in respect for the land and minimal intervention, Antoniolo continues to produce some of Alto Piemonte’s most compelling expressions of Nebbiolo, helping define the identity of this historic appellation for more than seventy years.
