Founded in 1961 when Dino Carletti acquired the first 22 hectares in Montepulciano, Poliziano was born from a deep love for the land and its centuries-old winemaking tradition. His son Federico took over in the late 1970s, transforming the estate into a dedicated producer of estate-grown grapes and steadily building its reputation for quality. Today, the third generation, Francesco and Maria Stella, are helping shape the next chapter of the family winery, continuing a story built on passion, ambition and an enduring belief in the potential of Montepulciano.
Poliziano’s philosophy combines respect for tradition with a constant desire to improve, with Sangiovese, locally known as Prugnolo Gentile, at the heart of its Montepulciano wines. The family farms its vineyards organically, focusing on healthy soils, careful handwork and understanding the character of each individual parcel, while modern techniques are used where they can enhance rather than obscure the terroir. The result is a range of vibrant, distinctive Tuscan wines that reflect both the character of their vineyards and the family’s generations-long commitment to quality.
