Sordo Barolo Rocche di Castiglione 2015
Mature and beautifully layered, with dried cherry, rose and violet alongside leather, tobacco, spice and earthy mineral notes. Firm yet integrated tannins give this classic Barolo the depth and complexity to shine with truffle pasta, braised beef, roast game, mushrooms and aged cheeses.

Meet the producer
Sordo is a fourth-generation family estate in the heart of Barolo, with its story beginning in 1912 when Giuseppe Sordo began cultivating vines and making wine in Castiglione Falletto. The family’s fortunes changed with his son Giovanni, who from the 1950s developed an extraordinary instinct for identifying the Langhe’s finest vineyard sites, acquiring prized sorì and building the foundations of the estate as it is known today. Giovanni and his wife Maria expanded the cellar and introduced large oak casks specifically for the long ageing of Barolo, establishing a tradition of patience and respect for the wine’s natural evolution.
Today, Giorgio Sordo and his daughter Paola represent the third and fourth generations, continuing the family’s devotion to Barolo. The estate farms 53 hectares across the Langhe and produces eight Barolo crus, with the wines traditionally matured in large oak casks and given the time to develop their full character. Sordo’s philosophy is simple: to reveal the excellence of the territory through careful vineyard selection, traditional craftsmanship and an enduring passion for Barolo.
