Founded by Aldo Vajra in the early 1970s, G.D. Vajra is a family estate rooted in the high hills of Barolo, where Aldo and his wife Milena have spent decades cultivating a deep connection to the land. Aldo was among Piedmont’s pioneers of organic farming, joining Suolo e Salute in 1971, long before organic viticulture became commonplace. Today, the family continues to farm with an intensely hands-on approach, nurturing vineyards at high elevations and maintaining a strong focus on biodiversity, soil health and the natural balance of the estate.
The Vajra philosophy combines a deep respect for Piedmontese tradition with a spirit of curiosity and experimentation. Nebbiolo sits at the heart of the estate, with the family’s high-altitude vineyards producing wines prized for their perfume, freshness and finesse, while traditional varieties and thoughtful winemaking reflect their commitment to expressing the character of each site.
