Dave Fletcher

Fletcher is the project of Australian winemaker David Fletcher, whose fascination with Nebbiolo began with a trip to Piedmont in 2007 to work the harvest at Ceretto. What began as an effort to understand the grape eventually became a permanent move to the Langhe, where David took on the role of winemaker at Ceretto and established his own label in 2009. Today, he farms organically in Barbaresco and makes wines from some of the region’s most distinguished vineyards, bringing an outsider’s perspective to a deeply traditional wine culture while remaining firmly grounded in the character of the territory.

David describes his approach as a way of ‘deconstructing tradition’, combining everything he has learned from working vineyards and cellars around the world with a highly hands-on, personal philosophy. Spontaneous fermentation, gentle extraction, old oak and minimal intervention allow the wines to retain freshness, perfume and a clear sense of place, while his commitment to organic farming and biodiversity reflects a broader respect for the Langhe landscape. His Barbaresco ‘Recta Pete’ takes its name from the Latin for ‘shoot straight’, a reference to his Scottish family’s heritage as former arrow makers and the direct, uncompromising spirit behind the project."
