Tony D’Angelo of D’Angelo coffee has almost 30 year experience in the coffee industry. He brings that expertise to the creation of the Mercato Caffe del Bar. Using a blend of arabica beans from Brazil and Costa Rica, Tony has created a truly unique product exclusive to Mercato. Each bag of coffee beans is labelled with a roast date and a best before date to ensure that the beans are consumed at peak flavour and freshness.
Arabica beans are beans tend to have a sweeter, softer taste, with tones of sugar, fruit, and berries. Their acidity is higher, with that winey taste that characterizes coffee with excellent acidity. Arabica coffee makes up 70% of the worlds coffee production.
Caffe del Bar is the blend that is used at Bar Mercato and is specifically designed for use via extraction methods. This includes espresso machines or stovetop percolators.
This coffee is a medium/high roast giving tasting notes of mild cocoa with a great balance of sweetness and a syrupy texture. This coffee is very versatile, it is perfect black but also mixes well with milk.
