The Bera Family
Based in Neviglie, just outside Barbaresco, the Bera family has been making wine in the Langhe since the mid-20th century, building its reputation through a deep commitment to the land and to authentic expressions of Piedmont’s native varieties. The story began with Valter Bera, whose dedication to quality vineyard work helped establish Neviglie as a source of exceptional wines at a time when the area was still relatively unknown. His work laid the foundations for an estate particularly renowned for Moscato d’Asti and Dolcetto, wines that reflect the freshness, character and individuality of the family’s hillside vineyards. That same respect for honest, site-driven winemaking remains at the heart of Bera today.
Now guided by brothers Riccardo and Umberto, Bera is entering an exciting new chapter while remaining firmly rooted in its family heritage. Their energy and meticulous approach have seen the estate expand into some of the Langhe’s most prestigious vineyards, including Barbaresco and the celebrated Mosconi cru in Monforte d’Alba. Here, they are bringing a fresh perspective to Nebbiolo, producing wines of depth, structure and vibrancy while preserving the elegance and sense of place that have long defined the family. Bera represents a new generation of Langhe winemaking: deeply traditional in its values, but ambitious, curious and unafraid to evolve.
