Product: The “Mosto Oro” extra virgin olive oil is the result of a selection of the best 100% Taggiasca olives, a typical cultivar of Riviera di Ponente, Liguria, harvested from the start of Autumn until February/March.
The oil is cold pressed from hand harvested olives, left to rest underground and packaged without being filtered immediately before shipment. Calvi’s oil mill carries out a two-phase oil extraction, which allows them to obtain extra virgin olive oil that is relatively richer in polyphenols, resulting in better taste and fragrance. Mosto Oro is ideal for seasoning refined dishes.

Producer Info: Giuseppe Calvi was, by chance, born into a family of farmers and olive tree growers who supplied him with the tools and know-how of one of Italy’s core food products, extra virgin olive oil (EVOO). In the years to come, Giuseppe and his brother, Paolo followed in the footsteps of their family and birthed, Olio Giuseppe Calvi & Co. in 1919 in the coastal city of Imperia, Liguria, Italy.
The passionate duo produced natural and artisanal EVOO in large glass jars and flasks decorated with straw to sell in Piedmont to the locals. Piedmont was a region famous for its wine but with no active oil production because of its climates and distance from the sea. Soon enough, word spread, and the company became a sensation and eventually started exporting to other Italian regions and countries like the United States. Today, with their expert knowledge, Giuseppe’s children, Gianni and Luca Calvi now operate the company. Their newly established oil mill in Oneglia Valley allows them to produce according to their traditions and up to 1.3 tons per hour.
