Producer Info: An Abruzzese delicacy since 1850, Luigi D’amico are producers of fine, aristocratic sweets that even the greatest Abruzzese poet, Gabriele D’Annunzio, fondly praised. Luigi D’amico is known for creating the first ‘Parrozzo’, a cake inspired by the Pane Rozzo (wood-oven baked corn bread). Parrozzo, named by D’Annunzio, is a round, yellow cake encased in a fine coating of chocolate – the cake’s appearance paying homage to the Pane Rozzo’s wood-oven charred exterior.
