Olio Calvi was founded in 1921 by Giuseppe and Paolo Calvi upon their return from the first world war. Born from olive growers in the Liguria region of northern Italy, the brothers came in to the business with a wealth of knowledge. What started as a company that only sold locally and to the surrounding regions of Piemonte and Lombardy soon grew in to a successful international export business. Fuelled by the emigrant Italians living in the Americas desire for oil, the company took to exporting extra virgin olive oil in cans. 

Today Olio Calvi is a thriving business run by the 3rd generation of the Calvi family creating high quality, quintessentially Italian, gourmet products.  

The best basil in the world comes from the Genoese region of Liguria, Northern Italy. So famous is this region for growing the fragrant herb that it has protected DOP (Denominazione di Origine Protetta) status. The highest quality pesto is made with this basil, known for its bright green hue and sweet smell. This pesto is made without preservatives to maintain the look, flavour and perfume of the sun-blushed leaves at their freshest. 

Tasting note:

This is pesto is made with the highest quality DOP basil and a high percentage of pine nuts. This results in a highly fragranced, slightly sweet pesto, with a light acid kick of garlic and a creamy nuttiness from the pine nuts. A true showcase of the region. 

Perfect with pasta or stirred in to soup. 


Extra virgin olive oil, pine nuts, basil, cheese (milk, rennet, salt, egg, lysozyme), salt, garlic, antioxidant: ascorbic acid, acidity regulator: citric acid. May contain traces of anchovy, soy, nuts, celery.
