2020 Coffele 'Ca Visco' Soave Classico

Producer: Coffele

Grape: 75% Garganega, 25% Trebbiano di Soave

Region: Veneto

Zone: DOCG of Soave Classico

Producer Info:

The winery is located in a 16th century residence in Soave, a beautiful facility with a beautiful tasting room, where you can taste and purchase Coffele’s wines. The family vineyards in Soave are located in Castelcerino, in the hills north of Soave in the traditional Classico region. Today, in this 25 hectare vineyard, they cultivated Garganega and Trebbiano di Soave, as well as Chardonnay, Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. The house here in Castelcerino has been restored, and a large grape-drying room added, used for their award winning Recioto di Soave. Most recently, Coffele has expanded into the Valpolicella DOC with the purchase of a small estate in Campiano, and are now producing a Valpolicella and an Amarone.

Tasting note:

Ca'Visco is the culmination of 20years of work from Coffele to select the very best rows from their collective vineyards of both Garganega and Trebbiano di Soave, each fermented separately. It doesn't see any wood, but spends time aging in steel and a month in the bottle before its released. There's lots here, like a reserve version of the standard Soave but the Trebbiano di Soave (Verdicchio)fills it out with peach and even adds an almost 'recioto' honeyed note to the Garganega's grapefruit and lime. One of the best!
