Producer Info:

Partners and inheritors of local land and traditions, Beatrice Lucangeli and Stefano di Laconi started to convert their estate to quality viticulture in the early 1990’s. From then they have slowly developed their 28 ha of vineyards to be an exemplary source for local varieties. Yields are controlled and all harvest is by hand. This bounty is handed on to their state of the art winery for simple, careful processing.

Tasting note: Verdicchio is one of Italy's famous dry whites and Tavignano's speciality. This 'Superiore' version from selected older and lower-yielding shows building complexity with subtle hints of that lees character followed by olive, peach and flowers, the fresh palate and its signature slightly bitter, herbal finish. This is the Adriatic coast's classic seafood white.

Growing System: Guyot

Soil Composition: Crumbly limestone and mineral rich clay

Production: vinification with cold maceration on skins in for 4-5 hours, fermentation with temperature control, maturation on the lees in steel tanks for a few months, finishing in the bottle for 5 months before release.

Alcohol: 13%

Wine Review:

"Straw-green color. Complex aromas of ripe citrus and tropical fruits, along with peppery herbs and a hint of anise. Fat, rich, spicy and ripe, but with excellent precision to thee flavors of nectarine, apple, pear and papaya. Finishes rich but firm-edged and dry, with noteworthy length." 91pts - Antonio Galloni
